Treatment Decision Making among Prostate Cancer Patients:
Theoretical and Practical Implications
Mittwoch,
4. Februar 2004, 16.15 Uhr, Staudinger Weg 9, Raum 03-428.
This
presentation will give an overview over a program of research focusing on the
exploration of psychological and clinical factors that influence treatment
decisions and quality of life among men diagnosed with prostate cancer. Data
will be presented from two studies. The
first study, a longitudinal study involving close to 1,000 men will describe
decision making, information gathering, and quality of life of patients. The second study, a randomized controlled
trial, will present results from a patient and spouse focused intervention
designed to facilitate treatment decision making. Finally, the development and
preliminary testing of a novel multimedia computer program to educate patients
about prostate cancer will be discussed.
